Managing IBS and Related Conditions
Managing IBS & Related Conditions
I recognise that conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, gluten intolerance, and Celiac disease each require a unique approach. I work with you to tailor my methods to meet your individual needs.
Understanding Different Conditions
IBS-D (Diarrhoea Predominant): For clients experiencing frequent diarrhoea, I focus on identifying trigger foods and implementing a diet rich in soluble fibre while minimizing irritants like caffeine and certain artificial sweeteners.
IBS-C (Constipation Predominant): Individuals with constipation may benefit from increased fibre intake through fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, along with adequate hydration. We’ll also explore regular physical activity to promote digestion.
IBS-M (Mixed Type): A flexible approach is essential for those with mixed symptoms. We’ll identify specific triggers and develop strategies that adapt to both diarrhoea and constipation, ensuring a balanced diet.
Crohn’s Disease: For clients with Crohn’s, I focus on anti-inflammatory foods and balanced nutrition tailored to your symptoms. This may include low-fibre foods during flare-ups and a focus on hydration and nutrient-dense options.
Gluten Intolerance and Celiac Disease: For those with gluten intolerance or Celiac disease, I emphasize a strict gluten-free diet. We’ll work together to identify hidden sources of gluten and create meal plans that ensure nutritional adequacy while avoiding gluten-containing foods.
Personalised Nutrition Plans
I’ll collaborate with you to create customized meal plans that consider your unique triggers, preferences, and nutritional needs. This may include implementing a low FODMAP diet for IBS or focusing on anti-inflammatory foods for Crohn’s disease.
Mindful Eating Practices
Emotional eating can significantly impact symptom management. I teach mindful eating techniques to help identify emotional triggers that may lead to overeating, fostering a healthier relationship with food.
